African Dance Master Class with April Turner, Tuesday, February 3, 2004, 8:00 p.m., Ray Auditorium
From the creator of Life As Art Productions. If you enjoyed the performance of A Kwanzaa Story, come take part in this amazing dance experience!During the month of January, Ms. Turner will conduct a five week playwriting residency at the W.C. Reid Community Center in Asheville, NC. A group of teenaged girls will compile their thoughts on the issues of sex, relationships, peer pressure and choices into a theatre collage performance. The activities are designed to develop critical thinking skills, build self-esteem, encourage life-affirming choices while introducing students to various artistic disciplines.Ms. Turner's work with young people via dance and playwright residencies has inspired communities, parents and children alike. Cost: $10 per person

Rhythm spins the world! We walk in rhythm, talk in rhythm, create, live and work in rhythm. LeRoy’s drumming workshop is designed for us to come together as a creative community. Now you don’t have to be a drummer to create rhythm. This is “No Fear Drumming”. We are born into rhythm, we have it already!

LeRoy sings with a deep, rich father mountain voice, words of encouragement and power. He plays congas, udo drum, crystal singing bowls, council drums, and an array of percussion instruments that fill the stage.
